Zi-Fu sandwiching Life is Tanhua pattern; Shen is steadier than Yin
Tianji and Taiyin in Yin/Shen Life Palace: two stars share a palace. Opposite has no main star; Wealth Palace is Tiantong; Career Palace is Tianliang. The three directions are called Ji-Yue-Tong-Liang: suited to government offices or a large firm, not well suited to founding a business alone. Ziwei on the left and Tianfu on the right sandwich Life Palace, called Zi-Fu sandwiching nobility: daily life more easily meets noblemen. Add Wenchang and Wenqu, with no malefics rushing in, and it is what the old texts call Tanhua pattern, more useful for study and exams. People have inner talent and can plan, but Tianji is weak against malefics, and Taiyin also needs Taiyang to shine, so you must lean on noblemen; forcing an opening yourself is not easy. Both are moving stars, and they land in Yin/Shen, which are Yi Ma palaces. The classics say “Ji-Yin must leave home,” suited to going out. People are sensitive, the mind is fine: used well it is turning a corner; used crookedly it becomes scheming. Shen is better than Yin; male charts run more smoothly than female charts; neither should marry early.

Life Palace Tianji Hua Quan: the person is more proactive; going out, wit more easily shows, and rank is not poor. Wealth Palace Tiantong Hua Lu: money comes more smoothly, but watch spending Lu on play and hobbies.
Ding-year natives, Tianji and Taiyin in Yin/Shen Life Palace
Life Palace Taiyin Hua Lu and Tianji Hua Ke, Wealth Palace Tiantong Hua Quan: Ke, Quan, and Lu gather, called San Qi Jia Hui (meeting of three wonders); this year’s chart has more force. Fortune Palace Jumen Hua Ji: marriage should be late. If in Yin, Career Palace Tianliang stacked with Lucun, dispute will be more.
Ji-year natives, Tianji and Taiyin in Yin/Shen Life Palace
Shen Life Palace meets Tianyue; Career Palace Tianliang Hua Ke, also sharing a palace with Tiankui. Planning is fast, suited to staff work, teaching, research, or public service. Busy as it is, performance can show, and the nobleman feel is clearer.
Geng-year natives, Tianji and Taiyin in Yin/Shen Life Palace
Shen Life Palace: Taiyin Hua Ke also shares a palace with Lucun; talent and wealth-Lu both show. Spouse Palace Taiyang Hua Lu: the partner’s conditions are better; female charts more easily meet a decent match.

Teacher Ming's reading: Tianji and Taiyin in Yin/Shen Life Palace
Do not treat Tanhua pattern as certain to pass exams. I think Tianji and Taiyin in Yin/Shen, three directions Ji-Yue-Tong-Liang, suit government or a large firm, not founding a business alone. Zi-Fu sandwich Life: daily life more easily meets noblemen. People have inner talent and can plan; they must lean on noblemen; forcing an opening yourself is not easy.
Bing, Ding, Ji, and Geng years share much the same point—Ke, Quan, and Lu are there, so the chart has more force. Years not listed here need not panic; first hear this star group’s temperament.
Tianji and Taiyin in Yin versus Shen
Yi Ma palaces rule leaving home; running about is in order to live well
Tianji loves movement, Taiyin rules drifting, and they land in Yi Ma palaces; the classics say Ji-Yin must leave home. If Travel Palace is good, running about is upward; if Travel Palace is poor, it becomes busy poverty. Values are often: keep running in order to live well.
Zi-Fu sandwiching nobility is what makes Tanhua; suited to public office, leaning on noblemen
Parents Palace Ziwei and Siblings Palace Tianfu sandwich Life Palace, so noblemen are easier to meet. Add Wenchang and Wenqu, with no malefics, then it is Tanhua pattern. People have inner talent and can plan, suited to public office or a large enterprise, leaning on noblemen rather than forcing an opening themselves.
In Yin, change of plan is clearer; in Shen, Taiyin is more refined and worldly
Yin is wood ground, and water also generates wood, so Tianji’s change of plan is clearer. Shen is metal ground: metal generates water yet overcomes wood, so Taiyin’s refined, shrewd worldliness is clearer. The two palaces differ greatly in temperament.
People are sensitive and good at calculation; used well it is turning a corner
Tianji calculates; Taiyin carries gloom. Sharing a palace, people easily grow oversensitive, melancholy, and think toward the grey. The three directions cannot see Taiyang, and Fortune Palace Jumen is also weak: calculation used well is turning a corner; used crookedly it becomes power-play.
Shen marriage runs more smoothly; neither palace should marry early
In Shen, Taiyang in Wu guards Spouse Palace: male charts more able to gain strength through the partner; female charts more easily meet someone with decent conditions. In Yin, Taiyang in Zi has no force, so marriage is easier to break. Both stars drift; neither should marry early.
Learning points: Tianji and Taiyin in Yin/Shen Life Palace
- Tanhua pattern needs auspicious stars, and malefics should not rush in: Zi-Fu sandwiching Life is only the frame; add auspicious stars and no malefic rush, then money and status are more likely—otherwise still an ordinary person. Tianji meeting malefics, people easily grow slick and take a side road for fame; too many malefics, easy to be lonely and also easy to be poor.
- Lu plus literary stars: suited to financial planning: meeting Lu, then meeting literary stars such as Wenchang and Wenqu, suited to planning or management in finance and economics—put the mind on systems, not on power-play.
- Greatest fear is stacking Wenchang, Wenqu, and peach blossom stars: both stars drift, material desire is high, and feeling already easily wanders. Stack Wenchang, Wenqu, Hongluan, Tianxi, Xianchi, and Tianyao, and feeling grows more complex, marriage less stable—you must hold yourself.
- Ji-Yue-Tong-Liang is left-and-right-hand talent; founding a business yourself does not fit: the three directions are Ji-Yue-Tong-Liang, belonging to support talent. Opening a shop yourself is high risk; drawing a steady salary, taking public office or a large institution, career is steadier and setbacks fewer.
- Meeting Tianma, work mostly has to run outward: Tianma in the same palace or opposite makes Yi Ma even clearer; work leans field, travel, cross-region. Whether Travel Palace is good decides whether you run upward or busy yourself empty.
