Fire and water fight; kin cannot help

Lianzhen and Pojun in Mao/You Life Palace: a Prison star carrying a Drain star. The Drain star governs consumption and large change. Opposite is Tianxiang, the Wealth Palace is Ziwei and Qisha, and the Career Palace is Wuqu and Tanlang. Both stars sit dark. Lianzhen belongs to fire, Pojun to water; sharing a palace, fire and water cannot coexist. This is called 囚耗交侵 (Prison and Drain invading each other): impulsive, hard-tempered, biased in thought, and sudden in change. The group itself carries danger. All three directions are strong and want to charge; they attack but cannot hold. Desire for power is heavy and hard to govern. Life is often a hard fight alone, with extreme success or failure. Kinship palaces are mostly empty; the family cannot help. Wealth and Career placements are strong, suited to pioneering public office, not to running one’s own business. Mao palace meeting Wenchang, with no malefics in the three directions, can form 眾水朝東 (All Waters Flow East). Mao palace must guard against 木壓蛇傷 (wood pressing, snake injury); You palace must guard against 覆車獸傷 (overturned cart, beast injury).

Teacher Ming's reading: Lianzhen and Pojun in Mao/You Life Palace

Do not treat Lianzhen and Pojun as charging being enough to come forward. I read fire and water sharing a palace as a large clash: they attack but cannot hold, and kin cannot help. All three directions are strong and want to charge; desire for power is heavy and hard to govern. Life is often a hard fight alone, with extreme success or failure. Suited to pioneering public office, not to running one’s own business.

Jia, Yi, Xin, and Wu years share much the same point—Lu is there to hold the hardness. If your year is not listed, do not worry—first understand this star group's temperament.

Lianzhen and Pojun in Mao versus You

Kinship palaces empty: you are forced to fight yourself

Parents, Siblings, Spouse, and Children are mostly empty palaces. Family support is thin, and family life is also pale. Wealth and Career placements are strong; the native can fight from a blank start. Suited to pioneering public office, not to commerce; if in business, only a craft that feeds by the hands is suitable.

Sitting dark: attack without hold

Mao and You are both weak/in fall. The stars sit dark: strengths cannot come out, weaknesses come first—hence 囚耗交侵 (Prison and Drain invading each other). The three directions are Ziwei–Qisha and Wuqu–Tanlang: enough dominance, fast action, little patience, a taste for risk. A city can be taken without asking the real gain; someone who can govern the native is needed.

Fire and water cannot coexist: better facing than sharing a palace

Lianzhen belongs to fire, Pojun to water. Sharing a palace, the clash is too large. The two stars are suited only to looking at each other, not to sitting together. Pojun stirs Lianzhen’s restlessness: the native is harsh, changeable, and biased in thought; feelings are easily hurt. This group carries danger.

Learning points: Lianzhen and Pojun in Mao/You Life Palace

  1. With Ke, Quan, and Lu, or Lucun, only mid-to-late life steadies: three-harmony meeting Ke, Quan, and Lu, or Lucun in Life or Travel, is what can hold the charge. Mid-to-late life is smoother, and money is more likely to stay, so life is not only a hard fight.
  2. Add the four malefics, and career is even harder to complete: classic texts say Lianzhen–Pojun plus the four malefics mostly means a minor clerk in public office; Lianzhen–Pojun meeting Huoxing and Lingxing again makes the heart very hard. The structure is already dangerous; stack malefics and ancestral property is easily lost, career is hard to complete, and living by a craft is suitable.
  3. Bing-year Lianzhen Hua Ji: what comes fast also goes fast: private interest is too heavy. Stack malefics and methods of seeking money easily go off, and breakage is also easy. Without malefics, and with Zuofu/Youbi, change is possible, yet the native still drifts and clings to power. In poor luck periods, breakage is easy. Bing-year Lucun sits in Si; sitting You is better than sitting Mao.
  4. Mao palace meeting Wenchang is called 眾水朝東 (All Waters Flow East): no malefics in the three directions, plus Wenchang: though there is travel, there is more talent, and a nobleman can pull the native up. Wenchang Hua Ke is even better. Pojun does not normally like sharing a palace with Wenchang or Wenqu; Mao palace is the only exception.

Teacher Ming's reading: how to read Lianzhen and Pojun in Mao/You

Three points are enough to remember. First, with Lu, only mid-to-late life steadies. Second, running one’s own business is not suitable. Third, kin cannot help; this chart was always meant to be fought by oneself.
